Education anyone…
I’m really excited about what we are doing. A grassroots petition? Using our rights? Consolidating our power? That’s amazing stuff right there. I hope you’re all feeling that as strongly as I am. But what about the apathy that is plaguing our nation right now? We all know people who won’t vote because our votes don’t seem to matter anymore. We can also look at our own history to see that political promises aren’t worth much. So why should a grassroots campaign work when not much else does?
Because it’s making politics work from the bottom up rather than the top down. Grassroots forces our politicians to listen to us because we are showing them how many votes they can lose if they don’t listen. It is insisting that we be heard by Getting involved, Staying informed, and Sharing information. Politics is a numbers game. A single vote in a presidential election might be pretty obscure, but letters and petitions are definitely noticeable. Especially when it comes from thousands or millions of people.
So let’s rock our political power. Join in this campaign to protect our elders, and land, and tell our politicians that we need to be heard. Why should we risk the health of our elders, or our own health for that matter, by fumbling through this regulations at the bottom of the 9th? Please share our efforts with everyone you know. It’s good stuff, and it’s safe. This is too important for us to ignore our Elder’s plea.
To know more about the injustice of the timing and method the Department is using in rolling out these new regulations, listen to the video on our Blog post: Elder’s Plea to Delay AIPRA Rulemaking during Pandemic.
These new rules will give Native Americans even less due process and protection for Indian landowners. It is vital that you be involved and learn what these new regulations mean for you and your future generations. The proposed changes and presentation materials can be found on our Blog page: AIPRA Proposed Rule Presentation Materials.
It’s easy to submit your comment on the proposed changes directly to the Department by clicking here: FederalRegisterCommentPage. Let the Department know your involved, informed and sharing information they need to understand the impact of their proposed regulations.
