Facebook Live…

We are going live on Facebook! Besides generating interest in our cause, we want to provide you with a platform to bring up concerns and challenges to the proposed government changes to AIPRA regulations. Not the least of which are the challenges Covid-19 presents to tribal communities unlike anywhere else in the country. It is my sincere hope that a Facebook live session will expand our opportunities to respond to the government to tell them now is not the time!

As I’ve touched on before, I’ve recently moved from a very large city to a small New Mexican town. While establishing myself here, I’ve been stunned at how archaic people’s ideas about the plight of American Indians are. Bringing a few issues into Facebook Live would show people that we are still here, and that our concerns are more modern than the covered wagons of 150 years ago or more.

Join us. Let us talk about estate planning, our ideas for our lands, and what we want for our children. Most importantly, let us tell the government how we want our land passed from generation to generation.

To know more about the injustice of the timing and method the Department is using in rolling out these new regulations, listen to the video on our Blog post: Elder’s Plea to Delay AIPRA Rulemaking during Pandemic.

These new rules will give Native Americans even less due process and protection for Indian landowners. It is vital that you be involved and learn what these new regulations mean for you and your future generations. The proposed changes and presentation materials can be found on our Blog page: AIPRA Proposed Rule Presentation Materials.

The complete list of proposed changes can be found here: www.FederalRegister.gov

It’s easy to submit your comment on the proposed changes directly to the Department by clicking here: FederalRegisterCommentPage. Let the Department know your involved, informed and sharing information they need to understand the impact of their proposed regulations.

We hope you Join the Discussion by signing up for our Blog newsletter at www.NativeProbate.org. Get Involved, Stay Informed, and Share Information.

  • This is a very helpful and concise summary of an unnecessarily complicated issue. COVID has further exposed the extreme injustices that Native Americans face everyday and this rule change is even more malicious, particularly during a pandemic.

    • Yes, the timing is problematic for so many different reasons. The pandemic heavily impacts our communities. They need our Government’s support during these difficult times, not to be worried about new regulations on a law many do not understand. At this point, I’m not sure the ongoing plight of the American Indian family matters to the Government. What matters now is what we can do to help educate ourselves? I pray our educational outreach helps.
